Navigating Through Life’s Transitions

Transitions are unavoidable as we journey through life, so how do we navigate them and remain ‘intact’?  OR, instead should we consider that we’re not meant to remain intact at all, but instead their purpose is to dismantle life as we know it and grow us into who we need to be for our next phase of life.

I’ve struggled at times to hold onto what I perceive as my Self, especially when in the throws of a challenge, such as the ending of a relationship to death or divorce.  During those times, I felt the concept of who I’d been, start to melt away and my sense of self became elusive.

As scary as this was, I’ve come to realize that sometimes ‘losing’ ourselves is exactly what’s required for us to grow through life.  We’re not losing ourselves at all, but instead, we are evolving to be unleashed and released to our next station in life.

Regardless of the changes, setbacks and challenges I encounter, I know that at my core, I am still Monet – I love my family, I’m free-spirited, impulsive at times, passionate, optimistic.  AND in the same vein, I have grown to be quite different - thicker skinned, caring less about what other people think, in touch with my empathic & intuitive abilities, preferring more quiet nights at home and fewer nights of partying… way more Namaste!

If we hold fast onto who we have always been, instead of exploring and accepting who we are becoming through the various transitions in our lives, we may cheat ourselves of growth, new insights, love, happiness, experiences.

There is definitely a balancing act we are charged with through transition.  Losing ourselves just enough to become our best self.

From my heart to yours,

Monet Cole
